2009 Training Philosophies [three.ICs]

1.Inner Circle
A player’s potential is determined by those closest to him

Lance Armstrong is one of the most talented athletes on earth. The Tour de France, which he has won seven times in a row, has been compared to running twenty marathons on twenty consecutive days. His determination is unquestionable. His training regimen is unmatched. His talent is extraordinary. Yet without a team, he would not have won a single Tour title. His success is from the contribution of his inner circle.

People in your Inner circle will: -
>influence you
>bond and be close with you
>push and challenge you
>encourage and motivate you to go further
>compliment your strengths and weaknesses
>add values to you

It is IC’s goal to be tight and close as a team because this will definitely impact the way we train and play our games.

2.Independent Culture
A team’s strength relies on the strengths of the individual

Michael Jordan made the impossible happen on a regular basis, and he did this by practising the impossible. MJ has train hard to become an incredible player. However, the most important thing is that he has never quit.

We all get stuck doing the same regular things each day, and doing the same things over and over and over. Why not set time aside to practice doing amazing things. i.e slap shot from half court, spin-off, double spin-off, triple spin-off, finishing a 100Metre track within 11 seconds and etc. When you first start, you might only succeed once every 100 times, but over time that will improve to a point where you could make the impossible seem normal.

We would like to build a culture where players of team IC would learn to be independent in their training. Players should be holding their sticks and building their fitness level at home and not just during training. They should be always keen to improve themselves; physically and mentally.

Besides that, players should be independent enough to live up according to their faith. Good conducts on and off court is a good example.

3.Insane Courage
The difference between impossible and possible lies in a person’s determination

In the book of Joshua, there is a story about a man named Joshua. He is the successor of Moses who God promise to lead him and his people to the promise land. After the death of Moses, Joshua had to take over the leadership role and lead the people into the promise land (not an easy assignment). Sure he was lack of confidence and afraid but the word came to him, the word gave him the strength he needs to finish his task. The word was ‘be strong and courageous’.

As team IC, we should always be strong and full of courage when we face challenges in our lives and on court. Let’s face the fact, we can never always be gold medalist in all tournament but we can choose to show our insane courage on court that will blast people off their seats.

Remember the 3 ICs and live it. Floorball is not just a game; it is a new way of life.

we also rejoice in our sufferings

because we know that
suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance > character;
and character > hope.
And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Lantern Festival

14th September
early early morning

Remember the time where two girls from Salibandy came down? They played for the Z-liners Floorball tournament about 2months back. And Innebabes won the silver medal. After the tournament we decided to celebrate with the sali girls as it was their first ever floorball medal, coincidently it was the moon cake celebration as well.

As usual our team manager Sam likes to show off. I'll show you why. Ha.ha

I can sing

I can play the guitar

I am strong

I am Sam

After struting his stuff, the girls went, "WWWWWooooooooooooooooo!" As you can see below:-

After lighting up our lanterns we walked around with it. We talked about our childhood experience playing with lanterns and all. Somehow, traditions and culture is something that gives us our identity but sadly people are getting less interested in it. After talking and all, the girls start to ignore Sam. As you can see again.

Lonely, I am so lonely, I got nobody, lalalalla

michelle and wen lin (Salibandy!Co)

Innebandy!Co would like to thank you guys once again for coming down to Penang. We wish you all the best in our future undertakings, hope to see you guys again.

Floorball in Full Gospel Tabernacle (FGT)

On 27th of October, Sam and Deswyn were invited to conduct a floorball clinic to the youth of Full Gospel Tabernacle (FGT) and some of the boys from 14th Penang Boys' Brigade.

The place provided to us to conduct the clinic was.....their Church! Due to not able to book a court (public holiday) and with the gracious permission of their Pastor, the ball rolls on..

We begin with brief introduction about the game flooball and the parts of the stick. Then we proceed with simple ball control exercises. Half way doing the ball control some of them were already complaining.

Boys and girls trying out ball control

After some time of passing the ball to each other we split them up into two groups where they will be competing against each other to dribble through the cones. This is when things gets a bit interesting for them..

Passes and shot was part of the clinic... Without both of that what's the fun of floorball? Yea...some of them were having fun by shooting each other...

Then comes game time... These newbies did farely well due their exposure to different type of sports..

More floorballers were added into the Floorball family in Penang that day and my hope is that with the help of Innebandy! Co they could rise up and start their own floorball club!

Left or Right hand stick
Left hand stick.

Number of stick(s)

Team(s) Represented
Innebandy! Co.
The only club that I will ever represent.=) Reason is not so much on the things that it had achieved, but mainly is because of the people that is in it.

Most admired floorball player(s)
Bryan Looi. Because he is so good at floorball until he is able to represent Penang and get a sponsor at such a young age. I salute you…

Best teammate(s)
Ephraim, Rooban and Win Shern.

Most memorable moment in floorball?
Retaining the Youthwave trophy for the fifth consecutive year with Innebandy!Co…Sadly that did not happen…Right, I would say the most recent one should be scoring against Contact FireAnts, although that was an easy goal…XD

Who do you want to be and what do you want to achieve in the floorball scene of Penang/Malaysia in One year's time?
Honestly speaking…nothing. But, I would definitely like to help Innebandy!Co to win all the major upcoming floorball events. BUT, it won’t be easy… Thus, I beseech every ‘Innebandians’ to train extra hard during trainings and give all you got during any floorball events. But don’t forget the main purpose Who we’re doing all this for!

How can you contribute towards the development of floorball in Penang?
Well it is easier said than done, but I will try my best to introduce this sport to as many friends I possibly can. But what’s most important is sharing Christ to my friends by bringing them to YouthImpact through floorball.

Anything you want to tell to the floorballers in Penang?
Do not be complacent whenever you think you’re good enough. Always strive to be better, and be humble in everything that you do.
